When we design any formulation of medical device or cosmetics, had better check the information of chemicals used including general property, safety data, toxicology, cancer et. al. The searchable databases are:
- TOXNET, Databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, environmental health, and toxic releases. Highly recommended, can search many databases by the US EPA, CDC et. al. in one site.
- NIST Chemistry Webook, chemical and physical property data for chemicals.
- Information on Chemicals in European Chemicals Agency, higly recommended, integrated site for chemical information in European.
- Integrated Risk Information System, by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- eChemPortal, in OECD Chemical Safety and Biosafety
- International Chemical Safety Cards(ICSC), by CDC and ILO.
For the public or non-expert, SC Johnson gives a ingredient list they don't use as shown below:
GoodGuide is also a good site to search the chemical for non-experts. Its standard is quite strict.
